This scallion cutter feels really sturdy, the stainless steel construction is definitely well-made. I got the 3-layer version, and it handles green onions fine for most dishes. It's much quicker than a knife, but sometimes a wider scallion needs a second pass. Still a great addition to the gadget drawer.
My wife picked up the 5-layer cutter to speed up prep for Asian cooking. It does create nice, thin scallion shreds, which is exactly what she wanted. The stainless steel blades are very sharp. It's a handy tool for specific recipes, although some really tiny scallions can be a little tricky. Still beats using a regular knife.
