The pair of trellises turned topiary into a family project, since the kids can actually see the hand shapes developing over time. We placed them on opposite sides of a flower bed for a playful symmetrical focal point.
This form removed the guesswork from trying to shape a shrub freehand. The galvanized steel wire provides an obvious boundary, so I can prune growth back to the same silhouette each time.
